Jean Young, 2024
Jean attended Marywood University where she majored in Piano and Music Education and attained a Bachelor of Music Education Degree. She also has a degree in Elementary Education from Wilson College and is working on her Masters in Music Education at Duquesne University. Jean also studied private mandolin with Tamara Asta in Philadelphia for ten years.

For the past 17 years, Jean has been employed as an Instrumental Music Teacher for the Pennridge School District in Perkasie, Pa., where she has been teaching strings to students in grades 3-5 in three elementary schools. Jean has extensive conducting experience as she has been conducting string orchestras for over 20 years. Jean is also the assistant organist/pianist for Saint Philomena Church in Lansdowne, Pa., as well as a member of the Wayne Trio and The Munier Quartet playing Mandolin 1. Prior to accepting the position of conductor and musical director of Munier Mandolin and Guitar Orchestra, Jean played Mandolin 1 with the orchestra.

Before teaching at Pennridge, Jean worked for Susquehanna Township School District in Harrisburg, Pa where she taught strings to grades 4-12 for 12 years and conducted all the orchestras there. Jean has played Viola for the Central Pennsylvania Symphony in Hershey, Pa. and the Lansdowne Symphony Orchestra. She was also the piano accompanist for Alice Bish, violist with the Harrisburg Symphony.

Jean brings vision and creativity to the orchestra with her passion for developing and performing exciting concerts that showcase the mandolin and guitar orchestra.
